OK.

I just checked the light bill at Green Mountain Power. It is up to $427.65. The last payment I made (when I last had the money to do so) was in December.

This is amazing to me. When I started out five years ago, never could I have even conceptualized the complete waste that would be the next five years of my life. All for nothing. Reward? ZERO.

Never. Never in my most deranged, worst-case-scenario calculations did I ever expect to get ABSOLUTELY NOTHING out of my efforts. Not building an audience, being a bad comedian, losing an audience? Those are all things I contemplated as possibilities. But HAVING an audience and never getting a SINGLE TICKET PURCHASE FROM THEM? Never. Theoretical impossibility. Not even considered remotely likely.

Not one ticket receipt. (Except from my one friend, who perhaps likely owed me twenty bucks for something anyway. I'm not talking about him. I'm talking about the world's most powerful and wealthy people.) Not one note, not one phone call, not one cheap paper valentine from the drug store, not ONE MEASLY WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT THAT WOULD IN ANY WAY PUT ANYONE OUT IN THE SLIGHTEST.

This is amazing to me.
